Stephen Colbert has dedicated his career to passing himself off as an expert on anything, in this wired article he explains in a very funny way how he's done that over the time and how one can do that as well.
Among Colbert's advices is to pick a field that can't be verified, choose a subject that is actually secret, get your own entry in an encyclopedia, use a lot of abbreviations, .. and much more xD
